“For-bidder City” attempts to postulate a future where capitalism and subsequent mega-developments reign over the beautiful city of Beijing. With land space in demand, historical sites are threatened to demolition. Parts are dismantled and carried through a procession, for the rich to bid in purchasing the leftover pieces of memories. Meanwhile, developers and business corporations bid for the cleared-up land to construct their new milestones. And the Forbidden City – central icon of the city cultural and historical identity, becomes the stage of facilitating the “celebrated” event – a stage of seeing the past and the future exchanging a handshake.
